Crossword Helper

Use known letters, word patterns and solving tactics to complete crossword clues.

How crossword solving works

Crosswords combine clue interpretation, vocabulary and pattern recognition. Once you know some letters, the number of possible answers becomes much smaller.

Use patterns

If you know a word looks like C??T, try a pattern search or think of common possibilities such as CART, COAT, CHAT or COST. The more letters you confirm, the easier the clue becomes.

Look for clue types

Some clues are definitions, some use wordplay, and cryptic clues may hide anagrams, reversals or abbreviations. Read the clue literally and then creatively.

Build from crossings

Do not get stuck on one clue for too long. Solve surrounding answers first, then return with more confirmed letters.
