What PuzleFix does
PuzleFix offers free tools for word games and puzzles: a word unscrambler, an anagram solver, a Scrabble word finder, a Wordle and Quordle solver, a crossword pattern finder and a word checker. Alongside the tools we publish word lists and practical guides, such as our Scrabble strategy guide and Wordle strategy guide.
The tools are meant for practice, learning and settling friendly arguments. They are not an official authority for any game or tournament.
Where the words come from
Every tool and list on PuzleFix uses the ENABLE word list (Enhanced North American Benchmark LExicon), compiled by Alan Beale and M. Cooper. Its authors placed it in the public domain as a free alternative to official word-game dictionaries. We use 172,747 of its words; we removed 73 entries that are offensive slurs. ENABLE does not include proper nouns, abbreviations or hyphenated words, and it does not include some newer words, such as QI and ZA, that official Scrabble lists now accept. Read more on our dictionary and sources page.
How the tools work
The tools run in your web browser. When you use one, your browser downloads the word list once and does all the searching on your device, so the letters you type are not sent to us. You can read how each tool is tested on the dictionary and sources page.
