What counts as an anagram?
An anagram is a word made by rearranging all the letters of another word, using each letter exactly as often as it appears. SILENT and LISTEN are anagrams; SILENT and LINES are not, because LINES leaves out the T. By default this solver shows full anagrams only. Choose "All words from these letters" to see shorter words too, which is what most people mean by a sub-anagram.
Examples to try
- EARTH: HATER, HEART and RATHE.
- ANGEL: ANGLE and GLEAN. Names such as GALEN do not appear, because ENABLE leaves out proper nouns.
- STOP: OPTS, POST, POTS, SPOT, STOP and TOPS.
- RETAINS: NASTIER, RETINAS, RETSINA, STAINER and STEARIN, as well as RETAINS itself.

Using anagrams in games and puzzles
Crossword setters often signal anagrams with words such as "broken", "confused" or "arranged". Once you have the letters, an anagram solver confirms which real words are possible. In Scrabble and similar games, knowing the common anagrams of letter groups such as AEINRST or AEILNRT helps you find seven-letter plays. Our Scrabble strategy guide explains why those groups matter.

Which dictionary does PuzleFix use?
The ENABLE word list, a public-domain list of about 172,800 English words compiled for word games. We removed 73 offensive slurs. ENABLE is not an official tournament dictionary, so a few words allowed in your game may be missing and a few listed here may not be allowed.
Can I solve multi-word anagrams?
Not yet. This tool finds single words only. For phrases, try splitting the letters into groups and solving each group.
Do capital letters matter?
No. Everything is converted to lower case before searching.
